Rob is currently based in Nunawading, providing the highest quality piano tuning throughout Melbourne to schools, studios, in-home, retailers, hotels, concert venues and more.

As of December 2024 Rob has been working as a contract tuner for the Australian Piano Warehouse at their Blackburn and West Melbourne stores, tuning and maintaing pianos on their showroom floor as well as providing in-home tunings of recently purchased pianos.

While on a trip to the USA inspired by a love of blues guitar, Rob found himself in Chicago where he discovered the Chicago School for Piano Technology (CSPT).

Under the watchful eye of the teachers at CSPT Rob engaged in comprehensive education in the art of piano tuning, dissecting pianos and learning of their internal structures from the soundboard and cast iron plate, to the mechanisms responsible for sound production. Along with the physical aspects of the piano and the countless hours spent practicing and honing his craft, Rob delved deeply into the history and development of the piano since its invention thus attaining a great understanding of the instrument as a whole.

Upon completion of his studies Rob returned to Australia and began life as a professional piano tuner setting up Imlach Tuning. Imlach Tuning operated in Melbourne until 2022 when Rob relocated with his family to his partners homeland of Colombia. During this time Rob worked in and around Colombia's capital city, Bogotá, as a piano tuner while also learning and developing the craft of accordion tuning and repair.

Since returning to Australia in mid 2023 Rob continues as owner and operator of Imlach Tuning, providing quality tuning and repair to acoustic pianos accross Melbourne and Victoria.

Absorbed by music as a child Rob picked up the guitar and never put it down. After the guitar came other instruments, most notably the piano and harmonica. Rob's musical journey has lead him to playing shows around Australia and in the USA as well as playing on multiple recordings and with many different artists. A love for the piano drew Rob to piano tuning and during a musical holiday to the USA he discovered the Chicago School where he would eventually undertake his training, and the rest is history.
